Recreating Warcraft 3 through Guild Wars
I think I read that some of the Guild Wars people may have helped make the Warcraft games. So i thought it'd be fun if we tried to recreate the races of WC3 in GW, through team builds. I don't think this really belongs in Build Discussion since it's mostly for fun, but who knows. Feel free to really flesh out your idea of what each WC3 unit/race would look like in GW.
Humans
Footman - W/?. Strong on Tactics and Swordsmanship. Dunno what his secondary would be. In WC3, the Footman could go into Shield mode and have a lot of armor against arrows, but he'd slow down.
Some Skills:
-Shield Stance
-Deflect Arrows
Dwarven Rifleman - R/?. I think the most durable of all the ranged fighters in WC3. Not sure about what secondary he'd be. Maybe Monk for protection skills or Elem for armor skills. Shrug.
-Skills:
-Power Shot
-umm....
Priest - Mo/Me, duh! Heals and Smiting buff skills. I think the Priest could dispel magic, so this Monk would need Remove Hex. Perhaps a secondary profession as Mesmer for this purpose.
-Heal Other
-Remove Hex
Sorceress - Elem/N. It's too bad Guild Wars doesn't have anything like Invisibility or the ability to turn people into sheep, like WC3 does. That's what the Sorceress did. Skill line.... probably lots of Flares and Water Magic, the WC3 Sorceress used Slow spells. Maybe some Faintheartedness.
Orcs
Grunt - Warrior. Lots of adrenal axe skills. No shield, instead you'd carry a +Energy item. Deep wound skills. Power attack. Some stances to recreate the fact that Grunts have lots of health!
Troll Spearthrower - Ranger. Tiger's Fury to simulate the berserker mode. Troll Ungent (of course!) to simulate their ability to heal over time.
Witch Doctor - Ranger? I don't really remember this guy too much. I think he had traps and maybe totems or something. So the Nature Rituals and trap skills would be good.
Undead
Ghoul - Necro/Warrior. Ghouls had low health, so a Necro's lower armor would resemble this. Ghouls could consume corpses after battle to regain health, so Necro's Consume Corpse is fitting. Vampiric Touch as well, since the Ghoul could regain health with each melee attack.
Crypt Spiders - Ranger/N. These guys could burrow underground, so a Necro's corpse travel skill could simulate this. Crypt Spiders could also throw spider webs on people to bring them down from the air... well you could bring a Crippling Shot for this I guess.
Necromancer - Necro with loads of Death magic summoning skills. Verata's Sacrifice to keep things alive.
Banshee - Necro with lots of Curse skills.

dude this game isn't some Warcraft copy <_<
In Guild Wars you can only choose one side, Human ... the races like orcs are anti-human so they'd have to change the whole work of the game, make another part of world for quests for undead .. stuff like that.
This game should be unique not looking like Warcraft 3 / WoW.

You saying orcs are friends of human in Warcraft 3?
If you like Warcraft 3 and WoW that much go play those instead of Guild Wars <_<
Guild Wars doesn't have to look like them.
Besides if you think that it's so easy to implent them at this stage you're wrong ^_^

What a waste of time to read. When other people make threads like these, atleast they remotely succeed at adding maybe just an inch of funny to make the thread worthwhile. This was just horrible.

sorry but age-discrimination is kinda childish don't you think?
"if we tried to recreate the races of WC3 in GW" .... trying to play an RPG inside an RPG..... most weirdest idea ever.

Not when all the 15 year olds on the board constantly post the most mind-numbing material.

Sorry for you i'm 17 years old, and even if you think i'm 15 it doesn't hurt me I know you try to lure me in some flame-battle to get me banned but sorry I won't fool for your childish below 10 years old tricks.
Anyways still I think this is a weird idea, why would people change their character so that it looks like some Warcraft 3 character (skill-wise)... O_o

I really love all the A-holes plagueing these boards...
Anyway, these are cool comparisons, you've inspired me, I might make something like what my favorite WC3 unit is (lemme think a sec ) and try to make a full build of it. Now we just need mass pvp

There could be Sorcerers/Wizards in the expansion that will be different from Elementalists.

I don't see much need for another caster... Between the Ele, Mesmer, Necro, and Monk... theres not much room left for anything else.

I was not attempting to goad you into any such battle, mearly, I am sick of the teenagers on this board who add nothing to a discussion because they fail to even read the first post completly. He stated it would be interesting to see a battle of teams who take their players based on the units from another game.
You claimed he was trying to get other races added into the game or something... I don't even know where you got an idea like that.
I just call the shots like I see them.

I find that very insulting! SOME younger people act childish and post "the most mind-numbing material" but not all. thats a little overkill

More versatile?
*ahem*
Now wait a minute. I am a large fan of guild wars, and I also play wow. I love both games. I was in GW first.
I got bored in GW after the following:
Level maxed out, like 80% of everyone else, level 20, and it comes to skill and whatever blah blah blah.
The item variety is completely saturated unto the point of futility.
I can only be as successful against other people as I am able to manage my energy and equipped gear/abilities.
Adding a moron to ignore doesn't work anymore.
Now, in WOW:
I am level 30 after 2 months, still discovering new places, new content, new MONSTERS (not devourers thank god), new players, new stragies with ever-growing class and profession abilities.
I can craft UNBELIEVABLE amounts of varying items, even unlearn and pick up new professions, thus expanding my experience with the game overall, and making gobs of income for my upgrades.
I am meeting actual NICE people, who talk back, and say things that have something to do with the GAME.
I am finding out how much easier a guild can be run and maintain when people WORK TOGETHER for more than an island and a number rank.
The sense of pride when someone I inspect is wearing my hand-crafted armor.
The massive world, with so many places and whatnot.
More than I could type.
So....no....gw is NOT more versatile. it comes down to who has the most ability to work with the highest quake III armor set (basically). I love gw, but in no way is the game more versatile.
I suppose I went off the beaten path of the thread, but then most of you know me and how I am when someone says something like that without backing it up.
I like the thread...but hell no.

I don't see what this thread has to do with WoW at all.
And only level 30 after 2 months? It took me less than half of that

Well, I would like to avoid in wow what happened to me in GW. Burnout. I am taking my sweet time. Mostly focusing on my professions until maxed, then level, then back and forth, so that when I hit 60, I wont be a walking tank without purpose. I can fund armies. I can, in fact, ARM them.
